Thanks. But I wasn’t referring to (or knew anything about!) any situation with Michael Biehn. More the Weinstein stuff, other people in the industry I’ve spoken to and the situation on Lady Bloodfight that clinched my opinion on him. There is more than enough smoke for me to believe the fire here.

Feels like it’s the right time to end it now, it’s been a hell of a ride since that first DePalma rendition, but they’re getting a little too repetitive… and Cruise deserves a break from risking life and limb on the regular. Great time at the flicks, but doubt I’ll revisit the last 2 in the future.

Didn’t have a problem with the first half, despite the exposition and callbacks/retcons it moved fast and had some cool fights interspersed. Felt it lagged on the middle (wasn’t THAT impressed with the submarine sequence, sadly) but that biplane ending went HARD! Left the screening with a big smile

Took a trip to the IMAX yesterday! Wasn’t a fan of Dead Reckoning but I’ve seen all of them on the big screen 1st run over the years - had to finish out strong! Liked it a lot more than I thought I would, rank it in the lower half of the saga but still a cut above most modern Hollywood blockbusters

Crazy-Picked this up myself on Monday and enjoyed it even more on second viewing. Figured it’ll tide me over until the 4K upgrades of the HK classics. Sad there weren’t any extras (but as a streaming movie, am just grateful I could own it)-hoping for a disc of Silent Night to complete my collection!

Revisited a classic today - worth every second of that 3hr+ runtime. Masterpiece! (And a welcome palette cleanser after Megalopolis). Beautiful chaos, looked incredible in 4K (last time I saw this was the theatrical cut on VHS over 20 yrs ago)

I’ve learned something new today about BD-R - thanks Dalia! Heh, my own damn fault for paying for β€œunofficial releases” I guess. Can’t fucking wait for these new ones - been a LONG time since I’ve been this excited to add to the collection!

Paid for both The Killer and Hard Boiled from HKR, after much chasing up I eventually got the disc of The Killer and it didn’t play in any of my 3 players 😫 SO happy to hear of these legit releases coming up - 2 of my favourite flicks of all time and my collection has been HURTING without them!

Jack Quaid hitting 2 for 2 so far this year - fucking LOVED this wild, fun and surprisingly sweet ride! πŸ–€ Some strong late 90s vibes, great gore gags and Amber Midthunder continues to steal my heart. Didn’t even recognise Ray Nicholson in this (was introduced to him in Borderline)! Total win 🀘

Wow! Didn’t think it would live up to the hype (what could, TBH?) but this more than surpassed expectations! Reshuffling my schedule next week to see it on Imax - Coogler and co fucking smashed it… am still on a dopamine high from last night and feeling pretty damn inspired!

Up there with director Paul Anderson in terms of versatility! πŸ€ͺ

Well, this fucking sucks. This will either mean pumping out generic action movies with none of the charm of James Bond, or a generic "prestige TV" remake of Casino Royale that will take half a decade to make.

Stop giving billionaires control over everything. They do not care about the arts.

Topped out at 13k views! A viral blockbuster? Hardly! 🀣 But for what it is we done good! During post I was convinced I was over the whole film making thing-but it’s part of my DNA. Will never make it to Hollywood-accepted that a LONG time ago. But I can have fun with my buddies exercising creativity

REALLY impressed with this one! Went in with high expectations based on the talent and they were fully exceeded! 🀘 Appreciated the character build, was fully invested in the relationship by the time the shit hit the fan. Would have totally paid out for an Imax screening of this!

Haven’t revisited this one in a while-but this got a LOT of play back in the day. It’s Woo-lite but CYF shines, just flawless charisma and grace. Noticed a lot more Fuqua this time round, and Mira’s performance has grown on me. The action was less polished than I remember but that climax goes HARD!!

In a country where we don’t have access to firearms, they’re pretty much a fantasy weapon like a lightsaber to us. It’s a trope of the genre (they’re basically fantasy movies anyway) so when we want to operate in that genre we lean into the tropes. Just one British action movie nerd’s opinion anyway!

GREAT picks! 🀘I caught Royal Warriors for the first time last week (and was appropriately blown away-easily makes my HK top 10 of all time!). Been meaning to revisit Sudden Death for a while-Cobra and BB2 are in my regular rotation (would say annually but I think it’s probably more often than that!)

So fucking excited for this! After being ripped off TWICE by the HKL dude I can finally complete my collection and own legit HD versions of two of my favourite films of all time. Looking forward to what else comes from this deal. My wallet is going to take a hit here! 🀣

Fucking LOVED it! They gave away too much in the trailer but it’s emotionally engaging enough to look past it. Funny, bloody, sweet yet cynical at the same time and some social commentary tucked away in there too. The cast nailed it (Thatcher is gold!) and it’s beautifully put together. Total win! 🀘

First cinema trip of the year! Definitely slacking, gutted I waited too long for Nosferatu and Wolfman. Takes a lot to get me to a first day of release screening (hitting the 2pm showing for a reason! Fingers crossed it’s quiet in there) but this looks like it could be a LOT of fun!

Happy Chinese New Year! Miss my old martial arts days - Shifu used to put on a GREAT celebration each year. On my own tonight with a takeaway and a kick ass fighting femmes double bill. (Hong Kong pre 97 admittedly) Another win from a franchise I’ve recently fallen for and a new recommendation! 🀘

Oooh - he’s showing range! In the last 4/5 flicks he did, he spent most of his time sitting but NOT smoking a cigar! 😜 Best of luck with it - DMX’s few scenes made it just about watchable - one of my favourite movie lines from him in this one!

Mind = blown! Had somehow managed to convince myself I’d seen this years ago - who knows what I got it mixed up with cos I accidentally ended up with a first time watch here of a well deserved HK classic! 🀘 Ferociously paced, action packed and surprisingly emotional. Captivated from start to finish.

What I wouldn’t give to see his 20 minute short that he made on that shoot! 🀯 LOVE how he took that corporate money, delivered what they wanted and then went and did his own thing! 🀘 Never lost that counterculture spirit - a god amongst filmmakers til the end!

Will there EVER be a documentary on George A Romero that won’t leave me in tears? Just the fucking Man, the OG indie filmmaker who inspires me to this very day. Can see why his version wouldn’t have been what the moneymen wanted, but damn, that tantalising tease of a commercial got me intrigued!

Huge improvement on the original (part one just didn’t connect with me, sadly. One of those times where I’m like β€œwhat am I missing here? Everyone is raving about it” times). Still suffers from some writing issues but brilliantly executed, great performances and a killer ending. Enjoyed it!

Wow! Thanks, hadn’t thought about it like that! I’m just grateful anyone outside of friends and family have watched it - was a long and lonely post production process (during which I lost ALL faith in myself πŸ₯΄) so I’m over the moon that it’s found an audience! 😊
