It's profoundly saddening to read that AP will no longer be assigning or running book reviews because readers don't engage with them enough and they take too much effort to plan and assign. People complain about critics as gatekeepers; wait until all that's left is marketing.

Reese Witherspoon optioned Daisy Jones & The Six before it was even published, then made it one of her book club picks, guaranteeing it bestseller status. Maybe it would have been just as popular, but we'll never know, and her pockets were lined as a result.

Trying to sell furniture by tagging it with "Epstein" is a an easy block for me.

I have several of these. I love post-apocalyptic fiction in a frozen environment. Gentleman thieves. Deep South horror. And I will almost always read a conspiracy thriller that somehow involves the Vatican.
