You can attend a meeting. Anyway, enjoy your European life. I’m enjoying what’s left of mine. It will be restored in certain before I shuffle off this mortal coil.

Not true. I am no longer a European citizen. We are Third Country Nationals.

Everyone has different lives. And if it did not matter why did the U.K. not apply 90 in 180 to Europeans. The 90 in 180 rule has a distorting impact. One day’s work in Frankfurt last year meant that I had to lose ten days of summer holiday in order to get back under 90 days.

I agree. Cannot abide those people who promised that Brexit would deliver Heaven on Earth and who now cannot admit it’s a disaster. Wonderful for the Brits who had the choice of escape. For other it does not quite work in the same way. But life is good. Just not as good as it might have been.

Why should I have done that? The U.K. is my home. My family is here. All I needed was for the country not to renege on its β€˜contracts’ with people and businesses. I was into my early sixties. I could afford to retire. I was one of the lucky ones.

I swear those who publish that rag are simply too thick to understand much at all. But the damage they do is terrible.

I am sorry to hear this. What really frustrates is that if the Brexity types could actually point to a single tangible gain I might say it was worth it. But they can’t even do that. The β€˜independence’ mantra is simply a fantasy born out of ignorance of reality.

Exactly. I was lucky. Sold the business but it sticks in my craw when I consider an entire career built on a β€˜contract’ with my country and the country reneged on the deal. When I see flags flying now I just feel sad and let down. Je suis toujours europΓ©en!

The 90 in 180 was the biggest single cause of making me decide to retire. It impinges upon doing business and leading your life. I refuse to have to consider how much time I have attended meetings around Europe and then worry about going on holiday.

This is no surprise. I agree that these people really do believe in free speech…..as long as it aligns to their world view. Just like Soviet Russia, modern-day Russia, China, Belarus, N.Korea. We now know the true colours of our supposed ally.

I wonder how many of them will be in church tomorrow. Or for that matter know where their local church is. All very depressing.

It’s a disaster for the entire U.K. Those who have visited this disaster upon us are the very ones who will now be moaning about lack of economic growth, migrant numbers etc and most of them will be oblivious to the fact that they are the architects of their position. Thoroughly depressing.

Ok but what is your definition of β€˜rich’?

08.09.2025 12:08 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

Yes it’s a sad fact that many Reform minded people are actively stymieing the prospects of their own families in the long term. Simplistic solutions to complex issues. The populist approach down the ages.

Ah but if he did the right thing he’d be accused of being just like any other responsible politician. Why do the right thing when you can whip up hatred among the fearful and ignorant?

Palestine Action protest arrests rise to more than 500 Police say the majority of arrests were for displaying placards in support of the banned group.

When you are arresting people in their middle years and over 500 of them in one sitting you have to question the wisdom of your policy. If the policy is right then you have to carry hearts and minds. It is sad that our government seems incapable of doing so. www.bbc.com/news/article...

@yvettecooper-mp.bsky.social risks losing all credibility over Palestine Action. She says it is not non-violent and she may well be correct since we don’t have all her data. But given the scenes in Westminster today it is essential that the government communicates the reality she asserts.

It was a classic case of confirmation bias. I see a boat with rowers = illegal migration. Yet all the pictures I see on the news don’t have migrants wielding oars. They have outboard motors.

The thought of sipping champagne with this gentleman is akin to drinking from a poison chalice.

The issue however is that someone has to pay the taxes to fund what is considered enough. Don’t know about you but I feel I’m just about managing.

It is a dreadful scar on the landscape. It is the manifestation of the monstrosity which is Brexit and a monument to the arrogance of Brexiters.

Well it’s going to need another referendum anyway is it not? Meanwhile those of us who traded in the EU either give up or do what I did and retire. And then they wonder about growth! Doh!

I object to being treated as a second class citizen not worthy of the rights afforded to someone else by virtue of age. It’s discrimination nothing more nothing less.

Kuenssberg is wrong. 71% now favour aligning to EU on customs regulation.

Are motorhomers really freeloaders? Many remote communities in Scotland consider the motorhome community to be freeloaders. Are they right?

"As someone who used to visit the Scottish Islands regularly, and a member of several local online groups, I see a growing anti-campervan sentiment.

Locals call motorhomers who park in scenic places β€œfreeloaders” and openly discuss harassing them"

He gives away his sheer ignorance. A charlatan and a chancer who will ruin what’s left of the country given half a chance. He will prosper however.
