How powerful lightning can be, and how destructive it is like it knew to aim straight for your kitchen! I’m so glad there was no fire and that you’re safe, but still, $2,000 and all that damage is no small thing. Are you finding everything up and running again now, or is there still more to fix?

It’s amazing, isn’t it? Chepstow Castle has such a powerful presence, and yet it’s those quiet details the window, the carving that really stop you in your tracks.

That sounds amazing 5 miles along a volcanic coastline must have been both challenging and beautiful. The contrast of rugged lava rock with the ocean views… what a way to run! Hope you got a good breeze and some solid endorphins out of it.

This adorable harbor seal napped at the dock in Anacortes, WA, all afternoon, waking only momentarily before deciding my intrusion was harmless and dropping back into what appears to be an enjoyable nap

There’s a baby garter snake under the rock in the center. I would show you but I don’t want to pick up the rock again, because having helped raise three kids, I know you never wake a sleeping baby.

A macro photo, side three-quarter view, of a tiger beetle on top of a light-colored rocks. The beetle stands tall on long, thin, stilt-like legs and holds its antennae straight out. It has large, dark compound eyes and lots of white hairs on its underside and legs. Its body is beautifully metallic, showing hues of green, turquoise, blue, orange and copper-brown with cream spots on the wing covers.

Here is your Tuesday Tiger Beetle, I think a Western TB, Cicindela oregona. Tiger beetles pursue prey in a start-stop way, because they run so fast that they must pause to let their visual processing catch up with their feet - literal blinding speed. (Forward-facing antennae also help.) 🐙🌿 #insects
