I just finished “Slouching Towards Bethlehem” and I was so moved by her writing! Magical Thinking is on my TBR pile. I had heard of Dunne but had not read his work, but now I think I will seek it out!

I blocked him years ago for manufacturing drama.

From childhood, Dogsbody by Dianna Wynne Jones. Losing Artax to the swap of sorrows was nothing compared to the end of Dogsbody.

Haruki Murakami’s Kafka on the Shore. It was a very emotional time and the book was grounding in just the right way.

More recently, NSFW by David Scott Hay (2023 release) - it made me fall in life with language and fiction again.

My son actually found this tablet game called Progressbar, which looks like Windows 95, and asked me if the modem sounds were accurate. I said yes, and you heard that each time you connected. “Each time?!” Like I guess he thought it was like making a wifi connection and it just stayed on.

This is the nicest thing I’ve seen in ages!!!

Of course, an unpleasant side effect is that I’ve also received more rejections these last two months …

I’ve submitted more these last two months than I have all year. But man it’s psychologically exhausting.

Did you have to dial region exchange codes or whatever they were called? I remember a number HA-54041. It think it was time and temp, but might have been our first phone number.

I worked in a video store when they were just starting up and we had a ton of betamax porn. Probably 60/40 beta to VHS, so I don’t think that is correct. All our videos were distributed through Waxworks, so they might have decided later not to distribute beta porn ? This was very early 80s.

I’m about to query my first spooky middle grade book, and I’m writing another right now. I’m trying to meet other kidlit writers!

Tell Me I’m Worthless was an amazing book!!! I recommended it for a Bram Stoker Award. That book had me both terrified and in tears. Pure literary gold!!
