Good morning #HPC, Good morning #SC25
18.11.2025 12:57 β π 8 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0The "Elevators" are a technical marvel, given they were built in the 1960s. Surely one of the strangest elevators on the planet.
17.11.2025 15:46 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Are you in St. Louis this week for #SC25? Don't forget that you can go up "in" the arch! A pretty unique experience you shouldn't miss! #HPC
16.11.2025 15:16 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I will drive on Saturday, the first ever SC I can easily drive to.
14.11.2025 00:39 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Let me know if you make it and we can get together for a coffee. If not, send me a DM and I am happy to schedule a call if you would like more info.
11.11.2025 14:42 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Elias Werner and I explored what a software chatbot looks like on an #HPC Desktop. The goal was to explore the user actions enabled by a chatbot running as a native application.
@scadsai.bsky.social is holding a SofaTalk at #SC25 booth 513 on Tuesday, 1pm to talk about LLMs and chatbots in HPC.
Morning run sunrise today π
04.11.2025 03:26 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I published my first LinkedIn article, where I am reflecting on the #HPC Desktop and how I presented it at Oak Ridge National Lab two weeks ago. It even contains a call to action. π If you are going to #SC25, I would love to chat about the #HPCDesktop.

I had an outstanding visit to ORNL last week to present the #HPC Desktop concept. Big thanks to Jeffrey Vetter, Pedro Valero-Lara and William F. Godoy for organizing and being great hosts! DM if you would like to learn more about the #HPCDesktop, happy to chat at #SC25 or Zoom.

21.10.2025 18:20 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Going to #SC25 and interested in interactive and urgent #HPC? You should come to our workshop! Friday, 9 to 1 in room 260!
20.10.2025 11:33 β π 6 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0I am excited to give a talk at Oak Ridge National Laboratory next week. I will be talking about my favorite topic, making #HPC systems easier to use and providing researchers with tools that help them get more science done. #HPCDesktop.
17.10.2025 09:22 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I was asked if my #HPC object browser can run in JupyterLab. So Cursor/Sonnet 4.5 got to work and transformed the QT5 app into a JupyterLab extension. I am really impressed, most of the UI features work the same way in JupyterLab as they do in the QT5 version. It took not even an hour to convert! π€―
12.10.2025 21:19 β π 2 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0After showing last week (bsky.app/profile/robe...) how to monitor job resources in #Slurm, the logical next step is to enable job submission. The video shows how to submit an interactive job in any partition by simply right-clicking the partition. The #HPC object browser is evolving nicely. π
06.10.2025 10:02 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0To be perfectly clear, I would have killed for a tool like this when I got started in HPC way back. ;-) As a novice HPC user, wrapping your head around unattended job execution is hard and we "old folks" don't appreciate enough how hard it is.
29.09.2025 12:32 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I integrated a tool that shows resource usage of running #Slurm jobs, if you are allowed to ssh into the running job. Itβs not a core part of the #HPC object browser, but seems pretty useful, especially for βnew to HPCβ folks. Short demo video below.
29.09.2025 10:51 β π 5 π 1 π¬ 1 π 1I added an object-class-specific details view to the #HPC objects browser. The view is customizable with templates and can pull in instance attributes of objects. (HTML + Jinja2). Development is progressing nicely and it's fun to explore this! πΒ Here is a video showing #Slurm partitions and jobs.
23.09.2025 11:06 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Here is a short video on how to get started with the #HPC object browser and the #Slurm provider. I am looking for feedback how the tool works in your environment. Give it a try and let me know. github.com/RobertHensch...
