I spent time blockwalking this week for Taylor Rehmet, talking with neighbors on their porches and in their driveways. You could feel it. People are paying attention. People are ready for leadership that takes serving the people seriously.

I believe in doing the work and getting results. These are practical steps that help frontline professionals recognize trafficking sooner and respond more safely.

HB 754 strengthens awareness, helps ensure medical professionals are equipped to identify victims, and protects those who take action to combat trafficking.

HB 742 strengthens prevention by expanding training for first responders, requiring certain health care facilities to share human trafficking information, and adding protections for facility employees who report trafficking.

January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month. This issue is bigger than headlines. It’s about real people who deserve safety, support, and a path out.

That’s why I was proud to be a joint author on two human trafficking prevention bills that are now effective.

ICE arrests in North Texas have surged. In 2025, Dallas ICE officers arrested more than 12,000 people, and during the first nine months of Trump’s second term, 70% in of those arrested by the Dallas office had not been convicted of crimes.

I went to Prairieland Detention Facility because Americans are being held there, including folks from Collin County.Too much is happening in the dark. We are demanding transparency, due process, access to legal counsel & family and humane conditions. No one should be hidden away from accountability.

Thanks to everyone who made Plano’s Point-in-Time homeless census possible last night.

Our team walked the area around our Plano office w/Neighborhood Police, completed surveys and delivered care packs. Many people we met told us they are actively looking for work, stability and a path forward.

I want to be clear about where I stand. I have always fought for a woman’s right to bodily autonomy, and I will keep fighting for policies that put patients, families, and medical judgment first.

As long as abortion remains criminalized, tragedies will continue. Texans have seen what delay and denial costs.

Today, I’m thinking about the ones who have had to navigate these emergencies in fear and the drs trying to do right by their patients in an impossible climate. You deserve better.

This is not a partisan issue. It’s a medical one. Texans deserve a system where care is delivered when needed and where physicians are not forced to wait until a patient is crashing to feel safe to act.

That is not the reality in Texas today.

Even after the #TxLege passed the Life of the Mother Act, doctors have said the threat of prosecution still shadows emergency care. When the penalties are this severe, hesitation and confusion can creep in, even when minutes matter.
