I made my first Animal Mineral Vegetable piece in 2013; Iβm currently working to finish the 17th in the series.
Bound on stubs, the tray for this one has thorns and various lichenβs protected under a sheet of cast acrylic. And check out the manipulated leather on the cover - wowza, such fun.
I love the Bloedel Reserve, so I'm super excited that one of my pieces (Botany Education) was selected for the exhibit Nature and the Book, open March 4 - April 3. The Bloedel is situated on the northern end of Bainbridge Island, just a few miles from the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art
03.03.2025 14:28 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Check out this roster of artists my work is side by side with in the Rituals exhibition. Curated by 23 Sandy & Baylor University Libraries, two of my pieces were selected (Drawing Grasses & Nightmares to Daydreams). Looks like a good one - I hope to get to Baylor for a live view.

The narrative is presented as a series of labels below the drawings. The graphite drawings were created in situ while camping in Colorado forests, during summer of 2024.
27.02.2025 14:26 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Cathy Watkins, curator for Boundless, kindly sent installation images of the Boundless exhibition, which was held at the Peddie School in New Jersey. Looks like a beautiful exhibition hall, filled with work that seemingly lives up the 'boundless' moniker.
24.02.2025 01:09 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Went to a wonderful presentation & exhibit by one of my longtime hero's in the book arts world - Alisa Banks. The exhibit is called 'Unerased' and is hosted on the entire top floor of the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center. Curated by Jilian Sico; up through Sept 6 - & worth the effort to get there
21.02.2025 23:49 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Last weekend's insanely great Leather Salon inspired me to try the craquele technique that can be used on veg tanned leather on Tyvek. Needs some refinement but the first test is promising. Woohoo!
If you're interested in knowing more about upcoming Leather Salons, let me know.
I finally got over to see the exhibition Code-X: Contemporary Chicanx Codices, at the Vicky Myhren Gallery on the University of Denver campus. The exhibition closes on February 23, and I'm sorry I waited so late to see it as it is worth a return visit. Curated by Rafael Fajardo - see it if you can!
19.02.2025 14:41 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Leather Salon 2 was so great! We tackled craquele, bubble dying, shaving cream marbling, paste resist and various dye combinations. What a fantastic day!
17.02.2025 14:57 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I, along with all of Denver metroβs book/paper/print artists, are so lucky to have access to InterOcean Studio. Tools, materials and know how are obvious essentials, but so is a spacious, well-lit space with good work surfaces, running water and good energy! Prepping for leather salon underway.

The Gallery is adjacent to the public library, which has a sizable collection of artist books - including mine!
The American Academy of Bookbinding has opened registration for 2025. Iβm not a fine binder but for the past several years Iβve taken classes that have advanced my book arts technique and ideation considerably.
Heres pics of projects Iβve completed thanks to AAB
