You've really stirred the hornets here
Seems either you have to tead Heinlein and like it as an entry criteria
Or
Everything written more than 30 years ago is trash and should never be seen again
Can't we just read stuff we enjoy?

Well I hear what you say but I think...oh hang on, this is one if those occasions isn't it...

The line "Pursuit, sir. No one said anything about finding it" hits so hard it even feels Dredd is taken aback

Agreed, but would you really recommend Joan of Arc to anyone in the present day as the first film that should watch to get them.into cinema
If I am trying to get someone to read, John Scalzi and Becky Chambers are much more likely to hook a modern individual than the book of Foundation

Things are of their time
Some become classics because of themes (Laws of Robotics) despite not being what we'd now regard as well written
Same applies in other genres...would a Christmas Carol sell well now written as it was by Dickens?
But rarely are classics the best entry point for new readers

Its fun, not study
No "required reading"
Especially not old stuff that now reads terribly.
It was great when it was written, we wouldn't have what we have now without it, but not current
Imagine asking who's a great comedian to see today, and being told Groucho Marx?

Never thought about this before
So, you couldn't have a satellite orbiting permanently above, say, London?

It's like recommending the Goons as comedy, of its time, ground breaking, we wouldn't be where we are now without it, but blimey, even being polite it's patchy

Either way, an organisation doing that, whether criminal or terrorist, is difficult to be unequivocally in favour of. Not sure championing the mafia would be good...
But that is opposed to supporting Gaza against Israel, which most now would unequivocally support and is what yesterday was about

I doubt any, or at least very few, of the arrests yesterday were of people who actually think breaking into factories and damaging machines is what they want
As with BLM, what the general public means has moved well beyond the originating organisation and the government/police reaction is nonsense

"Respirator" sounds like a piece of medical equipment, not a mask?

This feels a bit like the Black Lives Matter furore...like that, whatever you think of the original organisation, the world's moved on and the government just looks stupid now
