A rough-skinned brown toad sitting on moist pebbles! They are covered in widely spaced spiny bumps and have a crest from the tip of their nose, over their eyes, and connecting to their large parotoid glands! The crest gets very large near the parotoid glands and is nearly the size of the glands themselves!

Calm, mild & damp overnight made me think i'd be tripping over #amphibians along the canal towpath early morning. Far from being that scenario but it did produce my first Common Toad of the year and a nice brightly coloured one at that.
