As it turns out, the address Xiao had been given had not, in fact, been Chongyun's, but Xingqiu’s. They had manifested on the busy street along Feiyun Slope, to startled mutterings from mortal passerbys, only to be ushered quite frantically into the building by the servant manning the door. Xingqiu's failure to return the night before, it seems, had been noticed. The flurry of worried servants had quickly calmed as Xingqiu explained that he had spent the night at Bubu Pharmacy — it was Chongyun who was injured, not me! The flurry starts up again, however, frenetic, as Xingqiu had explained the circumstances of Xiao's presence, as well as his identity.

“I have no need of mortal sustenance,” Xiao states, staying the frantic rush of servants towards the kitchen. “There is no need to tidy,” he interrupts again, as he spots a few others beginning to surreptitiously dust the spotless entranceway. “Please do not pray,” he continues, as an older servant begins to recite a long ritual welcome for the invitation of deities into the home. “Tea for Chongyun and myself in the garden pavillion,” Xingqiu finally cuts in. “A dish of cold almond tofu for the Lord Adeptus.”
