Odd headline. I saw Michael Sheen as Nye last week.

Equally why are so many medical doctors religious?

There is no need to be rude

So you accept some risk is inevitable. The question then is where to draw the line. Is it reasonable to reduce the speed limit of 30 stretch of road where there has never been an accident? But keep a 40 in place at a blackspot?

15.06.2025 16:40 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Do you accept that some risk is acceptable? If you don’t, then ban cars altogether. But I return to my original concern about lack of consistency. Different LAs seem to have adopted different views of risk (or more likely the implementation principles) We are left with a mess.

The local democracy question is far more complicated and is the tightrope elected politicians walk.

15.06.2025 13:41 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I suppose if I were implementing I would adopt an evidence based approach. If a stretch of road had a bad accident record or was near a school etc then no problem with 20.

15.06.2025 13:40 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Not sure those are big factors on many of the roads people want to revert. Personally the most irritating thing about the 20s is the complete lack of consistency. A drive from Llandudno to Milford takes in four counties with four very different approaches.

If you ask me whether the road passed my house should be closed to through traffic, I would say yes. Residents are not always the best judges.

Surely having a proportionally bigger public sector is a political decision of the Welsh Govt. It could decide to shrink it and if proportionally smaller than England’s we’d be quids in.

I think everyone is jumping to the wrong conclusion. Npt/Cdf to merge, Osp/Sca to merge and RGC to go fully pro. E and W to get equal funding. N get a reduced amount.

So . Scrapping Non Dom status will actually cost billions more than it raises. That went well then.

An accurate headline if a little misleading. The most recent poll of GPs shows a sizeable and growing majority against. The decision to move to a β€˜neither oppose nor support’ position was procedural because β€œoppose” didn’t quite hit 50%

Very odd take. The Plaid vote fell by 27%. The other three candidates took 41% from a standing start. 2:5 voters supported Reform or Tory.
