Well, at least he didn’t in the 1818 version where Mary Shelley never even refers to him as a doctor. I cannot speak for the 1831 version or the 1931 movie, which is where I suspect they may have upgraded him to Dr. status.

If detention at this center is not voluntary, then how is it even determined that a person is homeless? What is to stop them from sending anyone there that they deem to be undesirable and claiming they are homeless. With no judicial system involved, there would be no way to prove you aren’t.

As Mr. Shumway describes it, nearly two-thirds of the 1,300 homeless people potentially sent to the site could be there for involuntary treatment. About 400 beds would be set aside for psychiatric treatment. Another 400 beds would provide substance abuse treatment "as an alternative to jail,' he said, with entry and exit "not voluntary."

I want to be very clear that this is a detention center. The chairman of Utah’s Homeless Services Board said that entry and exit from the facility would be “not voluntary. “

They claim they will be providing them substance abuse and mental health services, but experts say that it’s not even clear how they would be able to staff these services since there are currently large shortages of workers with that expertise.

Utah is planning to have squads of police deployed in rounding up homeless people in Salt Lake City in order to involuntarily commit them into what appears to be a giant internment camp or detention center.

Ranking member of the House Homeland Security Committee Bennie G. Thompson said in a statement “Mobile Fortify is a dangerous tool in the hands of ICE, and it puts American citizens at risk of detention and even deportation.” He also said “ICE officials have told us that an apparent biometric match by Mobile Fortify is a ‘definitive’ determination of a person’s status and that an ICE officer may ignore evidence of American citizenship—including a birth certificate—if the app says the person is an alien. ICE using a mobile biometrics app in ways its developers at CBP never intended or tested is a frightening, repugnant, and unconstitutional attack on Americans’ rights and freedoms.”

As someone who has been reading ANATOMY...this is crap.

Apparently they did this because breast cancer is listed under “reproductive cancer” and the Trump administration insists that men don’t have breasts. I’m not kidding. This is actually the reasoning.

This just bothers me so much as someone whose work is building statistical models, because when they conflate anything that uses models/algorithms with GenAI, then when anyone has a legitimate criticism of GenAI, they are like *whiny voice* “I guess you think we shouldn’t even have autocorrect.”

The way this guy is like “if I redefine everything in the universe as AI, boy is it impossible to get through a day without using AI.”
