Using cryo–electron tomography, we peeked inside different #Mtuberculosis strains, and a couple of other mycobacteria.🧐 Surprise: some species, especially the host-adapted ones, build intracytoplasmic membranes (we call them MIMs)! 🦠

Moreover, something we discussed a lot about as it was extremely intriguing at the beginning, it seems that there is a strong level of cellular adaptation when demethylation is slow and gradual vs when it’s fast!

She worked so incredibly hard for this one and it shows! She showed that DNAme at the centromeres influences CENP-A localisation and centromere function

DNA methylation influences human centromere positioning and function - Nature Genetics Genome-wide and targeted perturbation of DNA methylation at centromeres affects CENP-A positioning and centromere structure, resulting in aneuploidy and reduced cell viability.
