The UK Gov’s expert advisers have shown that investing to transiton from expensive gas to clean energy will save the UK nearly £40 billion every year!

Most people can’t afford the up-front investment, but the UK absolutely can.

Tackling climate change isn’t just about protecting people.

Bird poo used to be imported all the way from Peru in the 1850’s. Full of nitrogen and phosphorus it’s fantastic for growing veg. A ton of it must be worth a bit

Petition: Ban cheap renewable energy from being charged at the price of expensive gas Mandate energy providers to stop charging the same price as expensive gas for much cheaper renewable energy. We think they should pass any savings on to consumers, rather than keeping them as profit.

Could we reduce energy bills at a stroke? Renewable energy is generally cheaper to produce than gas. However, units of electricity are sold at the price of the most expensive unit needed to meet demand at a particular moment in time: gas. petition.parliament.uk/petitions/72...

Billionaires’ wealth surged $6.5tn over past decade, Oxfam reports Real-terms gains of $33.9tn for world’s richest 1% ‘enough to end annual global poverty 22 times over’, charity says

Wealth of the world’s 3,000 billionaires surged by $6.5tn (£4.8tn) in real terms over the past decade.

World's richest 1% gained $33.9tn in real terms.

Billionaires pay effective tax rate of 0.3% of their wealth.

Ultra-rich are major cause of poverty, pollution, corruption.

Need wealth tax now.

Ancient trees are shipped to the UK, then burned – using billions in ‘green’ subsidies. Stop this madness now | Dale Vince The evidence against the Drax power station is damning, yet the government wants to continue its massive public funding, says campaigner Dale Vince

Tree-burning #Drax power station is UK’s largest single source of CO₂ emissions—and a major air polluter.

Yet ludicrously, UK Gov pretends its emissions are zero.

Reports on its impact on primary forests have been covered up.

Ministers are being played. Again.

Great article by @dalevince.com

Are UK Govts anti-women?

Cuts to public sector wages -workforce mostly female

Cuts to benefits -most claimants female

Carers persecuted -mostly female

Hike state pension age -most pensioners female. Women get lower state pension.

Gender pay gap.

Female PMs, Chancellors push neoliberal policies

❌ Say no to plastic grass ❌
-creates plastic pollution
-loss of habitat
-loss of co2 sink
-inc flood risk
-inc carbon
-bad for soil, bugs, worms
Fake grass is the last thing we need in a biodiversity crisis which is why I’m calling for it to be phased out as we #messupbritain for nature 💚🐝🌻
