The city of Holstebro acquired this Sculpture by Giacometti for 210.000 Danish Crowns in 1965. Locals found this very expensive. But she grew on the locals
The local name was Maren on the wagon.
For years it was left outside 24/7/365 until someone told city officials that it's very precious. 1/2

Thanks to Storm Floris and the sunshine electricity prices are low in Denmark the whole day.
Time to charge the car and run the dishwasher and washing machine and vacuum the house.
Here the actual electricity prices in east and west Denmark.
Divide prices by 7,46 to get it in Euro.

When I started first grade in school in Odense in 1955, we celebrated that it was 150 years ago Hans Christian Andersen was born.
This year it's 150 years ago since he died, and we commemorate his life and influence on society and his wonderful stories.

July in Denmark was
1,2°C warmer than latest climate normal.
15 hours less of sunshine
Much wetter. The 10th wettest months since 1874 when we started recording these things.
And we're off to a wet start of August, with already more rain the first 3 days than the March this year.

The stationary low pressure over Denmark has really been changing our perception of summer in the northern part of Europe. Lots of rain in some parts and very hot weather in Finland, Sweden and Norway.

Vacation time in Denmark is coming to an end.
Many going back to work today after having taken 3 weeks of vacation.
School children go back to school again after 6 weeks of summer vacation this week.
