Day 13: That's Eeyore back stitched, and some detail done on the grass. Oh, and Tigger has one paw back stitched, so that's page one of the pattern finished. I am beyond pleased with how it's turned out so far. 🙂🪡

It's about an hour's drive from where I live. I've meaning to go there for a while to see the Sheelas.

Two Sheela na Gig in Fethard, Co. Tipperary. The first is on the Watergate, part of the mediaeval wall. The other is on the wall of the Augustinian Abbey.

I remember overhearing a conversation between my mum and one of my aunts, many years ago. My aunt was "advising" my mum to take away my toy cars and cap gun because they weren't appropriate toys for little girls, that I should be playing with dolls. My mum told her where to stick her dolls. 🤣

Day 7: Progress on the back stitch is slow because, unfortunately, I'm finding mistakes that were made 20 odd years ago, and I'm trying to work around them. 😔 My french knots are good though. What do you think peeps? 🪡

SAMURAI BATS who knew these were even a thing in Japanese culture! The artist, Utagawa Kuniyoshi (歌川 國芳 1798-1861), was one of the great masters of the Japanese ukiyo-e style of woodblock prints and painting.
