There are very few housing shelters for LGBTQ youth. I can’t imagine coming out to my parents at 18, getting kicked out and ending up in a general population shelter hoping I don’t get my ass kicked for being gay.

College freshman today were 6 years old in the 2012 election.

A student of mine (age 20) told me after class that he appreciates when I explain how US politics and media were different before, because the Trump era is all he’s seen.

This is what young Americans think politics is. It’s normal now.

Think about all the published articles that people didn’t finish reading. How many unread words are out there on the internet wasting CPUs. How human of us.

If you’re a woman in any STEM field I encourage you to meet young women and show them that people that look just like you have jobs they CAN get if they do choose someday. Even if they don’t pursue it, knowing they could still means something.

When I worked at the Center for Astrophysics my abusive partner would threaten to call my work and embarrass me and in one instance he had called there.

My biggest advice: choose your partner wisely. They will derail your career if you choose poorly. If your friends and family don’t like them, RUN.
