This right here, this exact sentence, is THE problem in American political journalism.

The IRA *was* cheap energy and good jobs! That was the whole bill! Democrats did precisely what political pundits are telling them to do and the pundits just ignore it.

Even a short headline can take a surprising turn.

ICE brutalizing CITIZENS β€” did ya vote for this, MAGA?

β€œWitnesses say ICE slammed on their brakes causing the red car to resend them β€” which is the pretense used by ICE to brutalize citizens”

Going to war while we’re not paying our military is quite the choice.

Oh you’d be surprised. It might not be a lot of room, but it’s enough room for most.

Exactly! Without even doing the math as soon as my eyes landed on the 4200 figure my reaction was β€œwhat is he talking about”? What kind of gruel is this cretin eating for him to think that’s some big frivolous food budget?

GOP: I can't believe Dems are trying to stop us from taking away your healthcare. Just for that, no food for you.

I think the fact that Americans generally have had easy access to treats and a relatively high standard of comparative living (and even a much gentler post COVID period) has blinded our GOP overlords to the fact that taking away said treats and high standard gets rid of the reasons for complacency

exploitive jobs on the way down in desperation. Eventually the sweep comes for them & they’re put in a work camp. But there are more people right behind them on the same downward spiral. This timeline is partially based on fluctuating work camp capacity in housing/production. It’s a feeder system.

The regime’s policies designed to create broad economic hardship & more homelessness will keep a supply of downward mobility workers for those low wage jobs. Lower income but housed people progress towards homelessness as economy contracts & costs soar, they take increasingly shitty, low pay 1/2

This is the military culture that Maga seeks to emulate. And not just the current regime, republicans like Ted Cruz have disparaged the US military & it’s culture while praising the Russian military & advocating for us to emulate it for years.

To be clear I like Tom Nichols, not to say I don’t ever disagree w him, of course I do, but I value his perspective, knowledge & writing. And like the other person who replied here I certainly think he’s a serious person. <-All of that is why I picked him to use as example.

30.10.2025 13:19 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

But if he is not working on behalf of adversaries how are actions like this explained? How is RFK explained? Tulsi Gabbard? Theres too much of this for trump to simply want to be a king kleptocrat, his task is to destroy the United States.

30.10.2025 12:45 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

This is why the theory that he is working for the Russians continues to hold water. People like Tom Nichols who are under no illusions about trump & knows full well how unfit & harmful he is treats the possibility of him being a Russian asset as wild conspiracy of unserious people. 1/2

Yeah I’m not saying I share all his political views, or that he has none that could be problematic electorally. It’s more about his tone, communication, conviction, confidence, style & role modeling. I want him as our dem style guide. Running for prez himself might be the best way to do it. 1/2

IMO Galloway has exactly the right juice on this topic. I wish he would run for prez just to shift the conversation if nothing else. Even beyond the boys issue he strikes the right tone in general. He has humor, knows how to be cheeky but not offensive, he’s normal, likable, smart, good role model.

Or it is masculinity but not an β€œalternative” version, it’s just plain, classic masculinity! This grotesque crap on the right is the one that’s β€œalternative”, it’s so alternative that it’s not really masculinity at all. It’s cruel, destructive, vulgar, fearful & infantile. Pure vice. It’s weak AF.
