As a loudly self-avowed fan of film noir and genre mashups (see my "The Stuff Legends are Made Of" scifi/noir short story, and Gas Giant Gambit, my space-western debut novel), I am pumped for Spider-Noir!
It looks incredible!

I'm watching a recap of women's Olympic snowboard cross, and it occurs to me, why isn't skatercross in the Summer Olympics?
This is genuinely awesome, and I bet the skateboard version would be just as exciting.

Now, if I can manage 5k words a week (I usually write 3-4 days a week and aim for--but dont always reach--2k/day), I should have a 1st draft of Shallow Trenches/Open Skies by April 10th.
That's the goal, but I'm going to try for March 31st 🤞

I did it! Finally, after weeks of adding characters and expanding their roles, I've caught up to where I turned back on this first draft. And at 60k+ words, I'm more than halfway done.
Looking forward to adding new pages starting next week!

The part of this edit I had been dreading the most ended up the easiest part of all 😅

I'm a hair's breadth from catching up to where I stopped to go back to add characters to this manuscript.
27 pages before I can start progressing the story again.
This final section requires some heavy rewrites, but with Jessie working late tonight, I think I can do it!

Thanks! I had gotten about 60% into the first draft when I realized I needed more characters to make the ending really hit hard, so I went back to add them. Structurally, not much changed, but the story feels fuller now, in my opinion. Still a lot of work to do, but I'm happy.

Another 30 page edit day in the books. I am now 27 pages (plus however many more I add) from catching up with my manuscript. And with Jessie working later tomorrow, I should have the time to do it!
I can't wait to get back to writing new pages next week.

The Dow is over 50,000!

With the USA/Canada Women's Ice Hockey on yesterday, I really didn't get much done (also, what happened Canada?! Thank God it's still the prelims!).
But that's okay. I've got 83 pages to edit before I catch up with my manuscript, I've been averaging 30 pages a day, and I have 4 days left this week.

Ooof. Feels like we fell into a black hole for a while there.
Spaghettification can make posting to social media difficult.
But we're out the other side and ready to get back into it!

In the NHL and PWHL, a hit is often the correct strategic option. But when that option is removed, it changes the calculus of the game a bit. I'm seeing the same kinds of odd bounces and stick battles I see in my Sunday night league.
It's an interesting difference from the "pro" leagues.

I'm watching women's olympic ice hockey today, and I'm struck by how similar the style of play is to the recreational hockey I play.
To be clear, I am NOT talking about skill; these women would skate circles around me and everyone I play with.
Rather, I mean the lack of checking.

I've been slowly rewatching #DragonBallZ lately, and is it just me, or is Imperfect Cell kind of a silly guy? He's having way too much fun being thrown around by Piccolo 🤣🤣🤣

30 more pages of edits done, and I am CRUISING. I even got to add in some backstory for my new Sikh character, Sepoy Arjun Mishra, inspired by the very real Lance-Dafadar Gobind Singh, who received the Victoria Cross for his gallantry at the Battle of Cambrai in 1917.
