24.11.2025 20:15 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0We hit the $3800 required to take our bookfair proceeds in cash! 🙂
This is essential since we don’t have an operating budget for supplies, and the Scholastic Dollars catalog is insufficient. Plus, cash (via district office purchase order) can be taken to independent bookstores! ❤️
Love this idea! Book jackets are currently our source of bookmarks. 🙂
Jackets don’t last long in kindergarten backpacks, looking torn and dingy within weeks. However, the covers underneath are wipeable. We especially love glossy covers. ❤️
“They” say so many bookish things that I think we get to pick which ones we want to follow.
I’m going with the “write the book that only you can write” hoping that it fills gaps in others’ collections too.
Since districts are investing in curriculum (rather than literature), school libraries are staffed by ambitious, book loving moms (paid less than a fast food workers) who host book fairs twice a year, hoping to have enough in sales to cover needed supplies. And a few non Scholastic titles. #kidlit

Book fairs are valuable in our small town, two towns away from the closest book store.
However, as the librarian & an author publisher, it’s growing increasingly difficult to facilitate the excessive quantity of clutter being purchased.

Love this! The concept of play-based learning is why I named my preschool “Academic Play” and my publishing company too! Learning is a side effect of play!

Is there anything more amazing than a baby’s first steps? I don’t think so, but drawing babies is a close second.

Thanks! Love the sentiment!
My book releasing next year is called, “Heroes Need Help.” We are ALL the hero of our own story, but we cannot do it alone. We need a team fighting alongside with us! Thanks for cheering us on.
Cheetos, spanakopita, and Haagen-Dazs ice cream bars.
(The Cheetos were so I wouldn’t cave to my vending machine temptation. 24yo’s brain tumor needed to be surgically drained for the 3rd time this year. He is cheerfully back to campus & I am cheerfully consuming the foods I picked when stressed.)
I went to Costco hungry, with my less thrifty husband. 🙂 So many of my favorite comfort foods came home with us! It was exactly what I needed.

So, I shake a maraca to get the kids’ attention when it gets too loud to hear the shy ones say their name at the checkout desk.
I miss the days when a rain stick did the trick, but we are a louder society now.
A tiny plastic capybara designed to cheer up those who see it.
It’s one of those days!
My desktop wouldn’t function for the first two classes causing stress & chaos.
Someone must have snuck behind my desk and flipped the tiny off switch on my keyboard and under the mouse. Guessing that child is also the reason my capybara is missing.

A fluffy tuxedo cat sits on a black tshirt (still on its hanger).
It’s so much easier for the Library Kitty to cover my black school tshirts in cat hair when I lay them out in advance. She can cross that off today’s to do list and move on to sitting on the stack of books I plan to study this afternoon.

#Microsoft is retiring it?
So I’m paying the monthly fee strictly for Word’s thesaurus? Guess it’s time dust off the paperback version (I’ve had since middle school) and cancel. #Skybrarians

My black cat wanted to share a recommendation too. JAMES’ READING RESCUE. It’s a great read aloud. Sara Casilda’s black cat depictions are a spectacular match for @dianneaws.bsky.social’s message.

Some students have said there are axolotls in Mexico that they get see when they visit in the summer. Those kids want to know more.
Others get excited about the concept but aren’t interested in the books. I think that batch of kids learned the word from Minecraft. The real ones aren’t so boxy.
Wearing this shirt as a reminder to myself.
This will be the fourth time we’ve read the chapter when the protagonist misses essential college classes to have his brain tumor surgically drained.
Even the oncologist says the kid is stuck in “a Groundhog Day” loop.
Yet, yay! It’s surgically fixable.
Is there a place you would recommend purchasing? Like maybe an indie that ships signed copies or a candy store that needs extra customers?
22.10.2025 14:43 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Have your students’ passion switched to canybaras and axolotl too? They must be involved in a you tube video because my little ones can’t get enough. Plus I hear a phrase I have never heard prior to this year. “It’s against the law to own one.” That sentiment is said more often than “6~7”.
