Life is too short to read boring, dull, lifeless books. Frankly, nearly fan in fandom (especially tv/media fandom) needs therapy of some sort. Just traded in two books Gaiman recommended. One, Hope Mirlees' tediously boring "Lud in the Mist" is simply infected with bad 19th century English prose.

IN response to a reent post about elements of fandom needing therapy, esp. MZ BRadley & Neil Gaiman fans, let me say I never cared for Bradley's writing, and actually find Gaiman a bit tedious and, gasp, _dull_. I just disposed of the last Gaiman book I owned.

Given Bradley's been dead for over twenty plus years, that might hard to do. I confess as someone who was active in fandom, this current kerfuffle is sad and pathetic.

Donald Trump is an imbecile. He knows nothing, has no thought-out position on anything, and has daddy issues. His ignorance knows no bounds--he somehow thinks Spain, an EU member, is part of the BRICK economic grouping. In any school, holding this idea would get a well-deserved F.

Wish I could believe that, but this pattern is long-standing, going back to the anti-Masonic party and the Know-Nothings, among others. Many Americans hold reactionary religious and economic beliefs. and are always looking for a savior or a "sincere" con man. It's why they fear honest men.

Voters elected Trump. Voters also elected Hitler, and Dueterte in the Philippines and Orban in Hungary. Don't romanticize the voters. They can often be in the wrong, and when they are, the results are often horrific. leading to the death of freedom and your nation. I fear for the future.

You've described the GOP, which is about selfishness, narcissism, personal gain, and permanent control. The white working class is bigoted, immature, easily conned, and thinks a billionaire can save it. "Thank you for robbing me. It means you'll make me rich soon." The voters have failed.

Businessmen fail in government because they think they are more important than the system. Gov't is not a business or a household. Spending cuts & and tax cuts for the rich fail. Businessmen with numerous bankruptcies are incapable of running government. We'll soon be back to 1929.
