I struggle with the same challenges. In addition to the above, sensors have dimmed, especially during boot up. Unintentional percussive maintenance has a clear negative effect

One of the most horrendous elements of white supremacy was the use of lynching to terrorize Black and minority populations. Over 200 anti-lynching bills were introduced in Congress, but none passed until the Emmitt Till Act in 2022. Till was just 14 when he was murdered by a white mob in 1955.

On 2/20/1956 officials issued arrest warrants for civil rights activists who organized the Montgomery Bus Boycott. 89 brave folks put their lives and livelihoods on the line to peacefully lead the fight for the belief that all men are created equal. May we all have such grit and grace under fire.

On Feb. 11, 1644 a small group of enslaved people protested for their freedom in the New Netherlands. And in 1990, Nelson Mandela was released from prison where he had been held for 27 years for defying South Africa’s apartheid regime. Centuries of abuse and trauma.

Today I recognize the 101 HBCUs in the United States. These institutions produce 25% of all African American graduates with STEM majors and 20% of all African American college graduates. If you believe in academic advancement and excellence for all, supporting HBCUs is a great place to start.

Today in Black History: February 5, 1884 Willis Johnson invented the mechanical egg beater

Do you like to bake? I am grateful that the very first mixing device was an egg beater patented by Willis Johnson on Feb. 5, 1884. Imagine beating egg whites for meringue by hand! Thank you to this Black inventor. www.themelaninproject.org/tmpblog/2020...

Langston Hughes was born today in 1901. I celebrate his words on this first day of BHM.

DREAMS
Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.

Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.
