Just putting out a possible support question on some Udon (I know wild right), but when im using continous sync, it seems for the first bit after ownership transfer the variable update rate is super slow (im using smoothed vars), is there a way to fix this?

This post was purely pointing out that this specific argument doesnt hold up, not as a gotcha entirely

Again, read what im saying. No where am i saying persona is the perfect solution for this, just that this SPECIFIC argument against them isnt valid in that the government doesnt need persona to do this

Im also not arguing to care less, im arguing that this specific point being made is functionally invalid, and that other points should be focused on instead as this one is a non starter

Is age verification a perfect solution for this? No, nothing is but it adds a level of PITAssery for pulling it off

Ill also just add that in general i actually agree with some form of age verification for certain places. Im not a huge fan of the posts that are "this is trying to control us" as while there may be some merit to that, it also ignores the merit of genuine predatory issues in the spaces aswell

Is this great? No, but this is how shit works, it gets worse before it gets better. And for me, the data already exists in all the forms id be worried about it, so it just doesnt matter to me at all. My thoughts on this are inherently more complicated than i can portray through bsky

Most of what i see people talking about is functionally security theater and obscurity.

In a perfect world there would be full government apis for alot of this stuff, but we are in a transitionary period where stuff is going to suck ass because frameworks dont exist yet

My approach isnt that we already lost that battle, its that fundamentally i believe most "privacy" is privacy because you dont realize any links you might have thatd remove that privacy. Being truely private about anything anywhere is fundamentally impossible because of the implicit social publicnes

Because they already HAVE the data points id be giving them? Its not more data points when they can ALREADY tie my steam and vrc account to me via banks. They literally gain no new information from me by having this information

Im starting to get a bit annoyed by the argument that data sent to persona by, atleast, US citizens, is going to be used to further the surveillance state. You do realize that EVEN IF persona was storing that data when they shouldn't be, the government ALREADY knows all of your ID information?
