Shutdown cancels sports games and dances for students at military-base schools
Military parents say their kids, especially those who are high school seniors, are devastated by the cancellation of some of their last sports games and school dances.
This week I spoke to kids and parents at DOD-operated schools about how the shutdown has canceled their sports games and homecoming dances.
Seniors who are trying to get recruited to play sports in college are among those most affected.

Democratic anger at their own party fuels 2026 primaries
With the party's image at record lows and declining even among Democratic voters, candidates for Senate see an opening to win by positioning themselves against leaders.
NEW: When Mallory McMorrow conveyed her plans to run for Senate, DSCC asked her to hold off, per 3 sources.
More calls, some staff level; same result.
Per one source: βIt was, βCan you wait a little longer, can you wait?ββ
McMorrow defied them and launched.

Elon Musk Torpedoed a Beloved Pediatric Cancer Bill. Itβs Yet to Recover.
Sometimes, a good piece of legislation fails to become a law for one simple, stupid reason: congressional inertia.
NEW: Nine months ago, Elon Musk's nascent, DOGE effort killed off a beloved pediatric cancer initiative in the govt funding fight. I circled back to see where those bills now stood. What I discovered was less scandalous but no less depressing.
