Very honoured to have had the chance to revisit some old friends on this one

"The couple that slays together stays together."
Just a little tribute to a show I think deserved a little more love.
Any Mr. & Mrs. Smith fans out there?
I thought the show was such a slick, stylish, and genuinely novel take on the Brangelina movie-and speaking of novel takes... I decided to imagine what it might look like as a somewhat cliche romance book cover.
So l painted it.

I preferred it when we used to refer to our leaders as being like Bond villains we only half meant it.

Sadly a day late here but Happy belated birthday to the great Norman Rockwell. His 'Four Freedoms' series captured the spirit of a generation-this is my modern take. In a world where connection is at our fingertips, are we freer than before, or more captive?

10.12.2024 07:49 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Listened to this on catch up. As James kept referencing the βphenomenaβ of the whole family sitting down to watch TV all I could think of was how every member of my family would greet the word with a βdo-doo do-doo-doβ following a shared watching of the following clip
youtu.be/h5Mc55P1i9g?...
Charlie (Timothy Hutton) - Jesse Eisenberg
Looking back now maybe Elle Fanning is a bit too young for the rest of the cast. Any thoughts Bluesky?
My wife and I have a habit that when we watch films of a certain vintage (mostly 80s/90s) we try and do a present day recast.
Last nights viewing was French Kiss 1995
I think we tentatively fell upon
Kate (Meg Ryan) - Elle Fanning
Luc (Kevin Kline) - either Romain Duris or Louis Garrel 1/2
There was a German TV show broadcast on the BBC in the 80s about a boy who sells his laugh to a sinister baron in exchange for the ability to win any bet. The dubbing was so bad I kind of assumed theyβd also made the story up on the fly when recording the voice over.

There is an oft referenced Peter Cook quote that goes along the lines of pointing out how wonderfully successful the satirical cabaret clubs of Berlin were at preventing the rise of Hitler in the thirties.
Still satire all the way! If nothing else it makes the rest of us feel sane
