I tend to believe of Balmor that if it is good enough to exist in an environment, it is busted in that environment. I haven't been proven wrong so far >:)

Also I just want to call out - I had SO MANY amazing opponents at Cubecon! Delightful people, tons of high fives, good spirits, and love for cube all around. Everybody always talks about the vibes at cubecon, but seriously - the Vibes at Cubecon are so good.

On to the top64 draft in OBF! Really clambored into my lane, then played terribly to lose round 1, ending my run. Not much to say about this one - P1P2 Warchief because you gotta try, but ended up in a medium-ish madness deck.

Luckily, this was enough to limp into t128! Back at it again in an environment where I'm very comfortable: early 2010s-ish standard. I described this deck as "Ashiok and 39 cards," although that card won me 0 games. I picked up a 2-1 after battling back from 1 life vs Rakdos aggro to continue to t64

The wheels don't stop falling off. Next in the unplayables cube, I tried to play Equipment/Towers while staying open to Tribe. Never saw any Tribe cards and sadly opened Braid of Fire pack 3 when it was too late. Ended up in a spirits deck that also 1-2'd

(But a homie scoop from op in round three got me the 2-1 record)

Back to the hall! Drafting in the museum of 2000-2003 standard, I'm ready to take Piledrivers... What's that? Who's sitting to my right? Fellow Mogg IslandPonder? Hmff. No red for me then. P1P2 Mystic Crusader over Memory Lapse to play anti-red. This was my sweetest deck so far which sadly went 1-2

The drafts don't stop when the hall closes - late night draft at the cube mansion in Peasant cube. I went 2-1, losing to some guy (🦈) in my last match

This draft also featured a banger moment where my round 2 opponent (shout out to John!) cast Black Sun's to wrath my board of Pack Rats. I untapped and slammed Precursor Golem, op untaps and we call out a second Black Suns - which they promptly slammed back. We high-fived over it. That's cube, baby

Draft #2 and 🏆 #2 in the CORESIR cube. P1P1 Thragtusk vs Thunderdad (Hellkite) was a toughie, but the power of Batterskull + Golgari Keyrune got me there. Oh yeah, I also cast a lot of turn 2 Pack Rats. That'll help.

Now for the first real draft of the tournament and first 🏆 - 3-0 in El Classico. You can see the exact moment somebody passes her a broken card (Balmor). One free spell in the cube is more than enough to break in half, my Lava Dart did 8 damage :)

Then was the Cheese Stands Alone! 🧀 Running back the Chicago Cube. This draft was difficult for me and I don't think I ever properly found my lane. My deck had some powerful cards but ultimately went 1-2. One day I will open Roots early, then you'll all be sorry.

Next up was the prequel draft of Low Budget - High Power! I lost in the finals to a delightful opponent with this Esper control list featuring Sol Ring. If you ever want to see how far True Name Nemesis has fallen, stack it up 1v1 against Astrid Peth

Pre-gamed with Treva's Ruins, an old-border Esper desert delight. Tron knocked me out of cubecon last year, so it only felt right to kick off with the Urza lands. I think I went 1-1 before the con proper fired and we had to pack up. Wanted Sky Diamond. Getting all my colors in play was a challenge.
