I'm not sure what it's gonna take for people to realize that being subject to a sick burn in a judicial opinion is not something that will dissuade Trump or his cronies. They will push and push and try again and again until something sticks unless they are sanctioned and punished!

So, we asked Pritzker to weigh in on the go-to debate for every "Star Wars" nerd: Which movies are the best? Here's his ranking of the 11 major films in the series:
1. "The Empire Strikes Back" (1980)
2. "Star Wars" (1977)
3. "Return of the Jedi" (1983)
4. "Rogue One" (2016)
5. "The Last Jedi" (2017)
6. "Revenge of the Sith" (2005)
7. "The Force Awakens" (2015)
8. "Solo" (2018)
9. "The Phantom Menace" (1999)
10. "Attack of the Clones" (2002)
11. "The Rise of Skywalker" (2019)
havenโt seen ROS or Solo but this seems like a pretty ball-knowing list from Pritzker, particularly if he volunteered the name โStar Warsโ rather than โA New Hopeโ

People hugely underestimate how much transportation affects them except in these moments where a bunch of people are about to get it that didnโt before. Transportation is mobility and mobility is the spatial exercise of freedom.

It seems difficult to really separate them (and also for AI to only help one and not the other)

Is a student who actually understands the information an assignment is supposed to reinforce, but is lacking in the skills to present that understanding in a professional way, still completing the assignment?
24.11.2025 14:28 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0
The way that AI is often argued to help with the presentation aspect of information (making sure a paper reads well or a slide deck looks good) makes me wonder about the value of those skills separately from the information being presented.

itโs pretty simple: you can either induce demand for things that suck and people hate (traffic), or you can do it for things that are good (bikes, the McRib)

How does one differentiate between that situation (which seems similar to an American 4-way stop) and this one (which seems similar to an American major vs minor street, where I assume drivers donโt have to yield to cross traffic)
24.11.2025 05:51 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0
Like, as an example of a random 4-way residential intersection (in Munich), I donโt see any traffic control signs. Is the expectation that, despite no signage, a driver should slow down and make sure the way is clear before continuing?
24.11.2025 05:45 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0
Iโve always been a bit confused by this argument.
How does it work if two drivers approach and intersection at the same time if there are no stop signs?
Is your argument mostly about stop vs yield (where the US effectively uses stop for yield)?

My hunch about the tooltips is that they built a mostly dynamic system for their generation (rather than it being hard coded), so the system doesnโt know what tool tip the player is requesting, just that itโs of a certain type, and responds accordingly

I thought I had a swanky job (and I do), but adding my wife to my plan would have been ~$1500 more expensive annually than us keeping our individual plans.
If we had a child, it would have close to $4k more expensive annually.

As Train Travel Surges, Amtrak Needs to Buy More Trains!
Amtrak has a problem: Thereโs more demand than it can handle. Trains regularly sell out, year round. Thereโs a relatively simple fix for this problem: Buy more trainsets.

The need for more capacity is evident year-round, as the most popular parts of routes sell out or are available only at shockingly high prices

Borealis is suffering immensely from this problem. If you live in Wisconsin vote for pro-rail candidates in the legislature in 2026 and encourage them to include funding in the next budget cycle for additional rolling stock. A $100 million+ investment is sorely needed in Wisconsin.

In the crime/justice space, we have to find solutions that avoid the real issue: police are just dangerously incompetent, so resolving issues through them is wrought with problems and failures.
But law enforcement are essential to enforcing the law!

I feel like so much politics/electoral discourse has to do the same two-step as crime/justice:
How do you succeed when the primary tool is completely broken and incompetent.
We have to navigate a situation in which most political journalists are just hot garbage.
