Gen Alpha is so weird. My kiddo has been on a roll with “POV memes” this week.

But then her parents are cracking Homestar Runner jokes & quoting The Office.

I remember the first time I drove post partum, after I’d sufficiently recovered from my c section. My mom was watching Lil Gal and I took a short drive by myself. Same! Just cried and cried.

…to Kansas City and drove over to the Kansas side as neither of us had been to Kansas before. We went to a little park area at the confluence of the Kansas & Missouri Rivers. An incredibly familiar smell permeated the air & it wasn’t until later I realized it was the scent of cottonwood. /2

I keep this little bottle of cottonwood bud infused oil on my desk at work. I’m not entirely sure why, but it’s an incredibly nostalgic scent for me. I know there would have been a lot of cottonwood trees where I grew up, but I never gave them any thought.

Why yes, I did leave my kiddo in the car so she can scream & rail away about tonight’s supper choice. 🤦🏻‍♀️

My sweet Lil Gal insisted that I bring “Jimmy Bear” to work with me today.

But, on second thought, she advised me to leave him in the car because he’s “a lot to handle.” ☺️

Also it seems quite telling that it’s considered a hate group. And I’m saying this all as the wife of a former minister and an active Christian.

We’re in the middle of having “the talk” with our 9 yr old and we like factual biological info.

So I checked out the video & website. Tricky of them to list the name of someone associated with the American College of Pediatricians (a political advocacy group) & not the American Academy of Pediatrics (professional medical organization).

My big worry is that these folks will try end federal protections that provide for English language learners.

If 21.6% of Arkansas’ public ed funding vanishes, I’d be out of a job as well as my whole team. No more funds to administer language services to our 300+ English learners. We rely on title I & title III funds to run programs & pay staff.

This seems like it should be a big deal for farmers in ag-rich northeast Arkansas & AR01. #arpx

Starting with tilapia or mahi mahi might be a good way to ease them in. I remember there being a place where we used to live that made a killer mahi mahi sandwich. The texture is firmer but it’s a very light tasting fish.

Arkansas schools need federal Title I funds to operate. All counties qualify because we don’t get enough from state and local sources.
