11.08.2025 15:51 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0@lonesomebluejay.bsky.social I feel like this new Ethel Cain album would be your kind of thing? Have you heard it?
10.08.2025 20:58 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Such a daunting prospect but fairly enjoyable once you get going and massively satisfying once complete?
08.08.2025 19:46 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Someoneโs wrongly listed a pressing on discogs (by a mere 21 years) sold it to me and gone to ground when Iโve politely pointed out the very obvious error and asked for a full refund and return. Iโm sure it will get sorted but itโs just the whole palava isnโt it? Ffs!
07.08.2025 19:52 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0These five Donald Byrd titles have proven themselves quite elusive to me on vinyl so I have acquired these wonderful NM Japanese โmini-LPโ CDโs to tide me over until Bluenote reissues them. Personally need a magnifying glass to read the liner notes though ๐ง๐คฃ

27.06.2025 18:23 โ ๐ 5 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Liquid Skin is Gomezโs magnum opus for me. Not to everyoneโs taste but much more accomplished than the Mercury prize winning debut that preceded it. Miles better than anything that followed imo too.

23.06.2025 11:54 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Yeah. I think I probably sat on that one until a few years ago. I couldnโt believe how good it was. Apparently Moon Shaped Pool is very good but not gone there yet! Too soon ๐
22.06.2025 07:21 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Same! It took me over 20 years to โgetโ Kid A. Do you know In Rainbows?
21.06.2025 21:24 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I emailed @roughtraderecords.bsky.social about this a few weeks ago. No response. So much stuff (ahem..crap) gets pressed all the time. I just donโt understand when these gems get left for so long!
21.06.2025 13:20 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Seeing and hearing Weller sing this 31 years older, wiser, wrinklier brings so much to the song - which betrayed a maturity beyond his years when he wrote it. In the same way I prefer Joni Mitchellโs later version of Both Sides Now perhaps.
20.06.2025 13:03 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Confessions Of A Pop Group is 37 today. Here is a song from that record which the band chose as their one and only reunion performance in 2019. It appeared at the end of the Sky Arts documentary during covid and was such a monumental surprise. A top-ten Weller song imho.

When they played it at the end of that Sky Arts documentary a few years ago, I reckon I had goosebumps for days!
20.06.2025 12:15 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I donโt know if youโve ever read David Lines book about growing up (and growing old) a Weller obsessive. Wonderful read. The passage about what Itโs A Very Deep Sea meant to him grieving for his father has stuck with me since I read it and helped me see what an incredible song that is.

15.06.2025 14:03 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0If you are doing Rough Trade EAST then absolutely worth walking 5 minutes north of it to Flackback on Bethnal Green Rd. Excellent store, they have two others in London. Crouch End and Islington but not been to thoseโฆyet!
15.06.2025 14:00 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Nice copy! Not (yet) in my Byrd cage (which currently numbers 30 as leader).
11.06.2025 12:05 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Couldnโt agree more with this. Why Weller thinks heโs bringing anything to the party when he rolls him out is beyond me. I donโt think heโs creative in the slightest in the studio. And on stage, I reckon Iโve seen cardboard cutouts with more presence!
