tiktoks about how they want their partners to “use” or “abuse” them, idealizing serial killers, etc. i think there just needs to be more transparency in this realm, especially when more than 90% of those dark romance titles are explicit sex/kink scenes.

it’s not about being “puritan”, it’s generally about safety. these books don’t introduce these topics in a nuanced and practical way, rather in a brute form. there isn’t talk about safety, or rules, or “safe words” and once young women (the PREDOMINANT audience) are exposed to it, it becomes normal

can’t say it on the Other site but it is true that the rise of “kinky” and “dark” romance novels is an issue. the argument that it’s a “kink” or “fantasy” can and should be safe to explore goes null when these books are widely available to a predominantly young audience.
