I play drums with War Within. I'm learning Scottish Gaelic. I like metal. This is a microblog.
Gonna try watch the Tigers/Guardians game. 1840 start in the UK!
06.07.2025 16:19 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'm sorry did they say that Rays pitcher is 6ft 10?
21.06.2025 17:45 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Honestly shopping on the Nintendo estore is the worst aspect of the Switch. It's a total mess in all regards.
05.06.2025 21:11 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0WE RELEASED A NEW SINGLE!
War Within - Hell In Your Absence
A distribution error means it will be up on all streaming services soon.
It is on Bandcamp right now keepchirpinrecords.bandcamp.com/track/hell-i...
Just beat the Orioles 7-5 in my first exhibition. Made Jake Rodgers bunt lol
Gonna try a season and see if I can do what Hinch couldn't.
Tonight I found out how good Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball on SNES is.
Then I immediately after found out that one incredibly dedicated man updates the game every year with a fresh roster! '25 season roster isn't out yet, but playing with the '24 roster is still very cool
Forgot to reply. Was good fun lol
09.05.2025 19:36 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0@theoriginalkep.bsky.social dude are you watching this baseball game?
08.05.2025 19:38 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Early in the season yet, but an .804 OPS is nice to see from someone who most people wrote off 2 seasons ago.
Maybe he can share whatever magic juice he has with Maeda π«£
Riley is ridiculous. People are gonna start walking him soon.
03.05.2025 07:37 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The start of this baseball season has been wild for the Detroit Tigers! Also seems like putting Baez into CF has somehow improved his ABs?
03.05.2025 07:32 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0For the next 12, I'm going to cut carbs and sort my macros out, as well as keep up my 2x/wk gym plan.
I should also be able to restart Gaelic.
This doesn't leave too much room for other things, but hopefully, an intense 12-week self-study course in Gaelic will mean more free time later.
I think that with the final 4 weeks of this 12 week schedule that I can complete the second bookkeeping unit and be massively ahead of schedule there. I will stick with my gym plan as it's working, and I'm not bored of it yet. Drumming at least once a week consistently is working well, too.
29.04.2025 14:50 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Gym - I have noticed the biggest impact here. I am the heaviest I have ever been, but I also have the highest muscle mass and lowest body fat I've ever had. I can physically see a difference and have been able to observe this difference weekly in the mirror and in my training diary.
29.04.2025 14:50 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Drumming - I haven't missed a week, and I can notice a difference in my ability and mentally.
Also, since our set is <30 mins, I've been able to work on covers of some fun songs. So far, I am working on:
Stare At The Sun - Thrice
Misery Business - Paramore
My Friends Over You - New Found Glory
Bookkeeping - I've missed a couple of study sessions here and there but I sat a mock assessment for the first unit and scored 96%. I've bought another mock which I'll sit before I pay the registration and assessment fee.
29.04.2025 14:50 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0After one week, I realised I couldn't study more than one subject at a time without too much sacrifice, so I dropped Gaelic. I'll pick this up when I hit my bookkeeping goal. This is good motivation to actually keep pushing forwards with it, and not let it drag out.
So here is the update per area:
The goal here was to carve out enough time to see meaningful progress across multiple different projects while sacrificing very little family or couple time. I decided to just take it 12 weeks at a time, and review every 4, allowing for changes as required while working through things.
29.04.2025 14:50 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Gym will be Tuesday and Thursday mornings for an hour or so. If Megan has morning meetings and can't take kids to school on these days, I can shift to Friday mornings or weekend mornings. I'll address diet after I have done a full 12 weeks at the gym, so I'm not trying to change everything at once.
29.04.2025 14:50 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I worked with Megan to make sure our schedules weren't going to bump into each other and came up with the following:
Band practice is always 2hrs on Wednesday evening.
I will study on Monday, Thursday, and Friday evenings for at least 1 hour.
I dropped the reading as a target, because it's something I want to do in my lifetime, and I'll just read through books whenever I have spare time (I'm reading Downbelow Station by CJ Cherryh right now).
Once I had these goals, I sat down to work out when exactly I would do each of these things.
I will gain AAT Level 2 in Bookkeeping before Megan goes to uni in September.
I will learn enough Gaelic to read the first 2 Jason Bond books.
I will make sure I rehearse at least once a week even if band practice doesn't go ahead.
I will hit the gym twice a week and follow a 12-week plan.
From my list, I pulled out a few that I felt the most drawn to, or naturally were more urgent than others:
Bookkeeping
Gaelic
Drumming
Shift the belly fat and buld muscle
Read all the Hugo best novel winners
I then honed in and set more specific goals:
- Learn guitar
- Learn ocarina
- Improve on drums
- Learn Gaelic
- Read all the Hugo best novel winners
- Learn and play chess
- Lose my stubborn belly fat and gain muscle
- Run a sub-20 min 5k
- Learn to service my car and fix basic stuff
- Become a qualified bookkeeper
I'm sure there are more.
I've now passed 8 weeks of my new 12-week schedule.
Why am I doing this? I've always struggled with making progress across different interests, so I'm trying something different.
I initially outlined all the things I wanted to make progress on. It's a big list. From memory, it included:
So, yeah. Just completed Dark Souls. Nito was easy when I realised you just kill the skellys and then flame the shit out of him.
Gwyn - I tried a few times with Solaire. But in the end, I forgot to reverse hollowing and just took him out by myself. I parried the heck out of him.
Ok, beat Seath on my first try. Smashed his stupid crystal, then stabbed him in the belly with the lightning Zwei until dead. That was stupidly easy.
Ok, just Gravelord Nito to go. I've heard a lot of bad things about Tomb of the Giants. Gonna leave this for next time π
I've already been thinking about these things, but that rest week is where I'll be reading, consulting with others, and making decisions.
The reason gym time is limited is because I also have to account for:
Work
Family time
Partner time
Study time (AAT Bookkeeping)
Band practice/shows
Relaxation
At the end of this 12 weeks (2nd last week in May), I'll take a break for a week and regroup.
Can/should I add a 3rd day?
If sticking with 2 days, do I want to change it up?
Should I look at a calorie deficit for fat loss or focus on managing macros?
Should I continue on my own or add a coach?
