Feel free to download the image and write #haiku or #senryu on it and tag me me or @coffeeandhaiku.bsky.social.

There are other bird photos I've been posting in @coffeeandhaiku.bsky.social account that have enough white space for putting haiku, so feel free to use any ๐Ÿ™‚

Most of all, please repost things if you like :) It's difficult getting the engagement without that support from the haikai community. Appreciate it! ๐Ÿ™‚

In terms of timelines, the first submission window may be in March 2025, but I want to do something new for the website, so let's see.

I used to prepare images with pretty designs to share the prompts weekly & announce the picks in the following week. I'll do something different here, in terms of the frequency as I plan to take submissions quarterly instead of weekly as it was overwhelming, curating a year's worth of selections.

๐Ÿ“ฃAnnouncement: The website is back up with proper links to 'Issue #0 - First Blossoms'

URL: haikuseed.com/issue-0-firs...

So, now you can go back and read the old posts over at haikuseed.com. Some links may not work yet.

The plan is to get the site backup fresh & new for 2025. Let's see.

A minimal sketch artwork that is mainly in black and white with a red sun. A silhouette with an umbrella out on his shoulder is walking in a puddle of water, ripples showing the falling rain. The rain is falling in a slant, left to the right, so the silhouetted person is resting their umbrella on the shoulder. A frog is in mid-leap off the umbrella onto the path of the silhouetted person and the frog is backlit by a red sun which is the only color in this artwork besides black and white. The rain is shown to be only falling in a relatively narrow column, so there is some unrealistic nature to the scene. The frog jumping off of the umbrella of a walking person too is unrealistic. But it's monsoon! Boots and frogs croaking along the waterlogged roads.

A random #HaikuSeed prompt - this artwork. The journal is still in hiatus, so no curation from my side. But I will read and repost the #haiku I like:)

Please use #HaikuSeed in your posts that are written for the prompt so readers and fellow poets can find them easily.

If you want a bit of a close-up of the frog, here you go. It is low-res and creepy. Which came first, no one knows. *wink wink* But not creepier than some of the frog-based Japanese artworks I've seen.

I keep thinking about what we were able to do in 2022, with the inaugural issue & the contributions & the lead up to the issue through weekly prompts in 2021.

The journal is still on hiatus, I'm unable to find time & energy to resume it. But I follow the wonderful community of haikai poets :)

I'm putting together a starter pack with journals, publications and resources that are related to haikai forms. Hopefully more journals join BlueSky as time passes.
