I believe deeply in abolition, and today was another reminder that things like “jury of peers” and “rule of law” etc etc are such a farce. I only hope the person criminalized in that case was able to escape the clutches of the PIC.

I’m fine with being dismissed but I also disagree with who they chose instead. The primary state’s witness was a cop. Multiple people with ties to law enforcement, including an active ICE agent who had experience testifying in a similar capacity as part of his job, were empaneled.

I was dismissed (unsurprising given my appearance, work, & education) but went through initial voir dire with the judge. Everyone in my group got attorney follow up questions, and I’m partially convinced I didn’t get any because they weren’t sure whether it was okay to address me as Ms (it’s not). 🙃

After living in Cook County for 15 years, I was called for jury duty *on May Day* which I know is supposedly coincidental but definitely felt very intentional on the part of the State’s Attorney. 🙃

Trump’s attempted EO would be a mix - birthright for most and (a lack of) citizenship by blood if you’re undocumented. Like in Korea, it will play right into the hands of the pro-natalism mov’t by supplying babies to families deemed worthy by the state and furthering cultural genocide.

When I was born in Korea in the 80’s, citizenship was only be passed down by blood through fathers; it directly contributed to babies born w/o citizenship & high rates of adoption. The law has been slightly modified so that Korean mothers can grant citizenship now but it’s still not birthright.

It not just about refuting RFK Jr’s eugenicist rhetoric by proving what some autistic people *can* do and accomplish but also about affirming that *no one* should be subject to the ableism he hopes to implement regardless of dis/abled they are.

People’s rights to be treated as whole humans, with dignity and care and comfort and respect should not be dependent on their ability to work, produce, or align with the ableist demands of society. This is what the vision of Disability Justice offers us.
