Air purifiers become less effective the more their filters become clogged with the crap they pull out of the air.

Re mask bans: sunglasses conceal people's identity more effectively than masks do, but everyone would object to a sunglasses ban.

The difference is that sunglasses are completely normalized accessibility devices, while masks have been pathologized as part of the total erasure of the pandemic.

Re. the Columbia mask ban: imagine how absurd it would be for them to ban sunglasses worn "to conceal identity" but not "for medical reasons."

How could that even be enforceable? Who determines intent? What would count as a medical reason?

It's so important to prioritize schools that have poor air quality due to environmental racism!

The closer schools are to highways, which historically run through neighborhoods of color, the worse the air. Air purifiers are a racial equity issue.

Kids deserve clean air at school!

As always, the best solution for the pandemic is collective. Our physical spaces, laws, and social norms need to be built to ensure our safety. Individual solutions aren't going to fix this. But they do help a bit in the meantime and it's worth finding a cheap way to access them.

For those who find cutting the mask hole difficult, we recommend using either an X-acto knife or a 0.625" craft hole punch.

Sip valve recommends using scissors and it's really hard to get a precise circle cut with them.

With this source, you can buy one official Sip Valve (for the ring that creates the seal) and then identical but cheaper replacement valves. It lowers the per-use cost dramatically
