Humor is a tool of satire not the goal.

There are few who can make satire funny on occasion, but it's rare and usually blinding

I'm not sure The Onion is trying to be funny. It's satire; the goal is reflect and criticize structures of power and oppression. If anything the typical goal of satire is to cause the observers to recoil and reflect. What an individual does after they recoil and reflect is up to them.

Years ago I believed that accountability was difficult if not impossible without hating myself. I thought that's where accountability came from. Many therapy sessions later and many moments of growth later I've found that with self love integrity is without thought. It flows like water.

See in construction we call these people "clean glove MF*r" then we fart at each other in endearment and solidarity. Maybe academia could adopt a similar strategy? Modified to suit whatever is acceptable in academia.
