Actualize what you’re envisioning through the tools you already have at your disposal. When you hit a brick wall of technical limitations, then you can go shopping for that one extra thing you don’t have.

You don’t need 50 different reverbs to actualize your aesthetic form, you need maybe 1-3 that you challenge yourself to learn how to maximize the hell out of them.

You do not need to buy any more gear in order to sharpen your instincts when it comes to your musical brain and bones, in fact you will learn more about yourself as a composer and producer when you use less.

Your sound shouldn’t require Ableton or a Eurorack by default. These tools are the limbs and organs of your compositional body, necessary but secondary to your aesthetic form that acts as the brain and bones. Aesthetic form doesn’t necessarily imply specific tools.

If you attempt to allow tech to be the sole driving factor of your compositional voice, you will hit the brick wall of writers block sooner than you think. It has to come from within, you gotta envision it first, then find the necessary tech to actualize it, not the other way around.

You have options paralysis in the studio as a result of an endless marketplace of music tech devices at your disposal and the pressure to not just maximize what you already have.
