Looks like a correlation with earlier is better. I guess due to larger discrepancy between team strength in your model and actual table, which will diminish over time (on avg)

Do we know at which point in time you have to be 5 places behind your opponent in the table to gain the bonus? Before the GW starts, when the game starts?
Especially relevant in DGWs, where you can technically be ahead of your opponent in the table when the game is played and get bonus (cont)
