60 years ago today, john coltrane recorded "om" in seattle while (according to several biographers) tripping on LSD. the next night, he performed "a love supreme" in its entirety for one of the only known times. idk seems significant?

First time is saw this video it was at the Roxie, in the Mission in SF. Some freak put on a show that was just James Brown and Dylan video clips, but on the big screen. What a concept, you could walk in and out, drink beers, no one cared. We were so high, it was amazing.

JGB distinct songs by year 1976 does not really count due to the James Booker stint, and a lot of the songs from 1975 are just Nicky singing with the band applying minimal backup.

This new Warfield release ❤️ got me thinkin'. Oh boy, by 1991 JGB had LOTS of tunes. Here's a lil query to demonstrate. I am counting 1991 as the top year, 1975 and 1976 are tilted by wasted piano guys hogging the mic. jerrybase.com/saved_search...

I did not run the numbers yet, but I would not be surprised if this run of shows has the most variety of any 3 successive shows that JGB had played up the that point.

The band was working with. LOT more material than they were in the 88-90 time frame too.

Pretty sure this is going to turn out to be the release I listen to more than any other. Sounds really intimate too, puts you right in the pit. Close your eyes, you go there.
