The UArctic Congress 2026 takes place from May 26-29, 2026, Tórshavn, Faroe Islands, and has put out a Call for Proposals! Our series on famous sociology majors continues with American former professional soccer player Megan Rapinoe, who earned her Bachelor's degree in sociology in 2008 from the University of Portland. Says Rapinoe: "One cannot simply outperform inequality."

Who else was a sociology major? American minister and civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr., who earned his BA in sociology at just 19 years old, from Morehouse College, an HBCU.

The class aims to understand how creative media (literature, television, art, etc.) influences public perceptions of wildfire!
