'Aaron was clearly not a tool in an orthodox sense. It was closer to being a sort of assistant, if the need for an human analogue persists, but not an assistant which could learn what I wanted done by looking at what I did myself, the way any of Rubens' assistants could see perfectly well for themselves what a Rubens painting was supposed to look like. We are in the process of coming to terms with the fact that "intelligence" no longer means, uniquely, "human intelligence." '

And, perhaps more notably, Baier rarely delivers the sort of unflinching journalism that this moment in American politics demands, such as calling out Trump's lies in plain terms, confronting the erosion of democratic norms, or examining how the chaos unleashed by Trump’s administration continues to destabilize America and the world. In other words, he’s a journalist who can nod to the establishment while sparing Trump and his MAGA movement from serious scrutiny. That hasn’t aligned with traditional CBS News standards, but it would fit neatly within Weiss’ editorial sensibilities. Though she brands herself as a centrist skeptic of both parties, her worldview often overlaps with the cultural fixations and grievances of the MAGA right. Indeed, her anti-woke crusade at The Free Press has framed progressive overreach as the country’s most urgent crisis, while largely treating Trump’s anti-democratic behavior as a secondary concern.

This sounds like show-boating given the fact that Baier is under contract until 2028. But it also sends an important message to Bari's ultimate boss- Donald Trump- that she's just fine turning a fact- based news outlet in Fox style state media. Read @status.news:
