AOC: We have a future to fight for, and we're either going to do that together or you're going to be left behind. It's not about Progressive. It's not moderate, it's not liberal. This is about do you understand the assignment of fighting fascism right now? And the assignment is you come together…

Democrat Mikie Sherrill Declared Winner in Closely Watched New Jersey Governor's Race Read more here.

New Jersey voters elected Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D) as their next governor, rejecting Trump-endorsed Republican Jack Ciattarelli whose loss is a significant blow to President Donald Trump and his authoritarian push to undermine constitutional rights and norms.

I'm happy that Mamdani won. But I won't let that get in the way of my celebrating Cuomo losing.

Tonight, Zohran Mandani walloped Trump, Cuomo, Sliwa, the oligarchs, MAGA and yes, even some establishment democrats.

He did it by listening to his constituents.

By promising to fight for them and their needs.

Not the ruling class who have broken and corrupted America.

That’s the lesson.

Six Lessons from Zohran Mamdani The results of Tuesday's elections in New York, New Jersey and Virginia should tell us whether a significant change in Democratic politics is underway

What can Dems learn from Mamdani?
1. He is an authentic human.
2. He cares about people.
3. He has a sense of humor.
4. He focuses on econ inequality.
5. He rejects corporate politics.
6. His policy proposals & messaging are laser-focused on affordability.

β€’ "We have no inflation." Inflation is at 3%.
β€’ "It's at 2%. It's-- it's the perfect inflation." Inflation is at 3%.
β€’ "Right now [grocery prices are] going down." Grocery prices are up 1.4% since
Trump came to office.
β€’ "A year ago, we were a dead country." Not only did the US have the fastest-growing economy in the G7 in both 2023 and 2024, but the Economist magazine called it "the envy of the world."
β€’ "11,888 murderers were let into our country." Not only is this number inaccurate, but many of the non-citizens convicted of homicide either here or abroad came in during Trump's first term.
β€’ "Washington, DC, was... almost like a crime capital of the world." In 2023, per PolitiFact, "at least 49 other cities in the world had higher homicide rates.
β€’ "[Biden] hardly went anywhere. Guy couldn't leave his bedroom." Not only did Joe Biden visit roughly as many countries in his term of office as Trump did in his first term, but Biden was the first US president to visit an active warzone - Ukraine - not under the control of US forces.
β€’ "I made Middle East peace. For 3,000 years, they couldn't do it." There is no peace in Palestine, no peace deal in place, and it isn't a 3,000-year-old conflict.
β€’ "Communist, not socialist. Communist. He's far worse than a socialist."
Zohran Mamdani is not a communist.
β€’ "I can't give them $1.5 trillion so that they can give welfare to people that came into our country illegally." The Trump/GOP claim that Democrats want to give free healthcare to undocumented immigrants has been repeatedly debunked.
β€’ "They emptied their mental institutions and their insane asylums-- into the United States of America." Asylum seekers don't come from "insane asylums."
Obviously.
β€’ "One thing I can tell you, the 2020 election was rigged." It wasn't. The courts agreed.
β€’ "And a lotta people say when it's rigged you're allowed to do it again." A lot of people don't say this. The US Constitution doesn't, for sure.

Trump did on 60 Minutes what he does every time. He spews a blizzard of lies, exaggerations and assorted other falsehoods, and if (as usual) the reporter isn’t equipped or doesn’t bother to push back, he keeps going.

Can't overstate how fucked up it is that unraveling what is arguably the greatest achievement in the history of humanity is now a motivating issue of one of the two dominant parties in the U.S.

one mistake people made in this era β€” in my opinion β€”Β is developing a brand rather than a style. developing a style makes you distinct and irreplaceable; it will carry with you to anything you choose to write about. it's one of the reasons people get excited about specific magazine writers

Opinion | My Bosses Were Afraid of Crossing Trump. So, I Quit. A veteran journalist opens up on the censorship that he says led to his resignation.

Yesterday's No Kings protests were apparently the largest since the first Earth Day in 1970

The NYT covered that story with a six column headline across the top of the paper and two full pages inside

Today, two small pics below the fold and a story on page A23

They constantly let America down

The "economy" is not an issue -- overpriced health insurance, rising costs of necessities like water, gas, electricity; masked agents terrorizing our neighborhoods & disappearing people; the loss of our freedoms & media failing to do their jobs

THIS is what voters are frustrated about

I am sounding the alarm that the GOP is engaged in an all out attack voting rights and free and fair elections. Voter suppression, gerrymandering, and troops in blue cities are just some of the ways they are using to try to rig the rules to keep power in 2026 and beyond.

Pay attention and act!
