The Mourning Pages
An adaptation of The Artist's Way for the working class artist
The Artist’s Way didn’t work for me—so I made The Mourning Pages instead. A space to grieve creative struggles, embrace limitations, & unearth something truer. Maybe success isn’t about productivity, but making peace with what is. Read more: #creativity #theartistsway #artiststips #artprocess

It does feel like there's a persistent refusal to acknowledge that in the process of politicizing people in the U.S. everyone will, invariably, start where they're at.

The Dollhouse Economy
Fairy tales, material literacy, and the joy and necessity of making
What does it mean to "resist" if we don't know how to take part in creating the material world? Fairy tales show us: learning craft was once a path to autonomy, and could be again. When we lost domestic production, we lost our stories too. #FairyTales #Resistance #Craft"

A sacrificial lamb!
I’m doing some watercolor studies of things around my house. Here’s a calico critter. I got frustrated with the medium and went in with some gouache and colored pencil to tighten it up.

How to be Small
Meditations on miniaturization
In this new Substack post I explore the power of shrinking perspectives—from universe to dining room—arguing that meaning comes not from scale but from the depth of attention we give to life's smallest moments. Through art, history, and meditation, I uncover profound significance in the tiny.

I listen to Audiobooks often. But I do find I retain information better through reading a physical book. Audiobooks can encourage a kind of passivity. I don’t want to be elitist about it but I do think there is a distinction. Sometimes it’s all I have the time or energy for tho
