✅ Create a national minimum net stipend and increase research grants to sustain it.

Graduate students & postdocs deserve fair, stable support.

Embedding support in research grants:
✅ Embed trainee support as an evaluation criterion in Tri-Council research grants.
Because research excellence depends on supporting the people who do the work.

Tri-Council & Inflation
✅ Advance Budget 2024 Tri-Council grant increases by 1 year to attract top talent.
✅ Index grad scholarships & postdoc fellowships to inflation.
Canada risks losing researchers if support doesn’t keep pace

Funding Protection:
✅ Protect research grants, scholarships, and fellowships from government-wide spending reviews.
Cuts to research are cuts to Canada’s future.

Our primary ask: The Government of Canada must exempt Tri-Agency base research grants, CRTAS
scholarships and fellowships, and trainee funding from the current spending-review reductions, and recommit
to fully implementing Budget 2024 research investments.
