Unemployed post PhD, someone I knew on a record collecting forum mentioned some work at their university distantly connected to what I studied. So after doing philosophy to get away from music, I'm teaching in a music school.

Had Saturday Glenroes all day y'day, but also a toothache; since I can't get to a dentist, I took some painkillers prescribed for something else, and not only did they deal with the tooth, but also banished any fear of the future.

A couple of years later, for the first Sunstroke festival (Faith no More/ Sonic Youth/ Sugar) myself and a colleague spent a day with an angle grinder cutting down those barriers as they were deemed unsafe for alternative rock. I managed to set my jumper on fire with the sparks from the grinder.

This week, I withdrew from a speaking engagement at a public university because they sent me a list of prohibited “words & concepts.” I will not humor this censorship. It does a disservice to the stories I’m discussing & the audience, who deserve unfettered access to information & conversation.
