Welcome to my dominion
@royalhampsmuseum.bsky.social had a rather fun morning yesterday at the Museum, noseying around the exhibition, and found a story I had no idea about....450 miles on foot through enemy territory....
26.10.2025 08:06 β π 24 π 2 π¬ 3 π 0Big Red One? Amatures. 101st Airborne? Pffft. 82nd Airborne? Stupid trousers.
No, the most dangerous and frankly, bonkers division in Europe in WW2 was....
Well actually @AnimarchyYT will tell you himself

It's an amalgam of lots of stories - I'm suggest Bomber Boys for the RAF and Donald Miller's Masters of the Air for the US - both as excellent but very different from one another
25.10.2025 08:06 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Slightly over whelmed by the response to last night's video on combat stress / LMF / discipline. Thank you all for your very kind comments

Thank you
24.10.2025 21:05 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We're off - www.youtube.com/watch?v=qvk0...
24.10.2025 19:59 β π 44 π 10 π¬ 4 π 2I am thinking about it, I'd quite like to do Sealion from the point of view of the defences
24.10.2025 19:23 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 01.1m men flew for the RAF. Just 20/month were formally charged with LMF - offical speak for cowardice. But the stigma and scars went far deeper. If you want to find out more youtu.be/qvk031umeAc will premier in 2 hours time
24.10.2025 18:01 β π 28 π 3 π¬ 1 π 0To help those not of these shores youtube.com/watch?v=qvk0... will premier at 9pm UK time, that's US Eastern Time 4:00 PM, US Central Time 3:00 PM, US Mountain Time 2:00 PM, US Pacific Time 1:00 PM and silly o'clock down under
24.10.2025 10:00 β π 35 π 8 π¬ 1 π 0"I disagree with you! You must be whatever political group I hate!"
23.10.2025 18:27 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'll have a video up tomorrow on what the USAAF called Combat Stress and what the RAF called Lack of Moral Fibre - just what did it take to get into a Bomber and what happened if you wouldn't or couldn't do it anymore? Premier 9pm tomorrow

Harris wanted 20mm cannon, which would've been shorter ranged but packed a hell of a punch. Barbettes weighted too much, were too unreliable and periscopes at night didn't work
23.10.2025 06:18 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0By 1945 the RAF was able to operate basically 1.75 crews per plane (the US was at 2) which drastically reduced pressure. LMF was kind of a rumour to most, especially later in the war where combat pressure was down, but AFAIK the RCAF absolutley had the same approach
22.10.2025 19:39 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0So my video on LMF will go live this weekend - here's a taster

Lack of Moral Fibre (LMF) was the RAF's term for men who had 'lost the confidence of their commanding officer to face the dangers required of them' irrespective of the trauma a man might have gone through. Fascinating and horrifying in equal parts.
22.10.2025 09:28 β π 28 π 1 π¬ 2 π 0We absolutley did use them in the Boer War, but the US civil war saw the first ones being tried, and the Austro-Hungarians used them to "discipline" regions before that.
21.10.2025 12:39 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Agreed. There's an extra level of vetrigo when you realise there were 1,500,000 Nazi troops 36 miles away, ready to "do a Poland" on the UK, and this was what was supposed to repel them
21.10.2025 12:37 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0There's a whole, very British, propaganda film showing the lads taking it all frightfully seriously. It's hilarious, but also terrifying
21.10.2025 11:06 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I suspect a Shed was involved
21.10.2025 11:05 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Those fine figures of manhood are regulars, freshly fished off a beach at Dunkirk
21.10.2025 07:45 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Hitler, Stalin and now Putin have armoured trains...in Britain we don't go in for that sort of nonsense. Behold the mighty Rommney & Hyde miniature railway in 1940

19.10.2025 17:51 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Cider making season at Thrasher Towers is upon us, which always seems to include Mrs Miggins breaking open her 'Man Beater' scrumpy from the previous year and vigorous wasailing of the apple trees...and today's sorry looking heads around the grounds.

Excellent video featuring a very handsome leading actor (and also Falcon)
16.10.2025 17:43 β π 10 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I fear the word 'Operational' is utterly lost on people who see it when to a squadron in April, ignoring it was a testing and evaluation squadron e.g. not operational. Hey-ho.
16.10.2025 17:33 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 021:00GMT+1 The supercut of the Bomber COmmand 1943 video will go live. I've corrected a few minor errors and slightly twewaked a few bit but basically it's Part 1 and 2 stictched together. If you fancy joining come here youtu.be/JvQvZIqcLsg
15.10.2025 18:57 β π 30 π 6 π¬ 2 π 0The Norden Bombsight aka the M-9 (Army) or Mark XV (Navy) was a radical concept capable, according to the testing data, of a CEP of 150ft. Unfortunately that testing data was deeply flawed and possibly fraudulent
