Cliché Boulet devant un miroir se regarde avec un petit sourire satisfait: "Bon... Je suis passé chez le coiffeur hier, j'ai taillé ma barbe à la perfection, je suis douché, j'ai une belle chemise... Je suis prêt pour..." (Dans une banderole, on lit: "LA PHOTO D'IDENTITÉ") Boulet avance vers un photomaton, l'air enthousiaste. Il est suivi par une silhouette musclée, représentant son égo, qui lui crie qu'il est le plus beau. Boulet (in petto): "Je vais ENFIN ressembler à quelque chose sur mes papiers d'identité !" Boulet fait face au miroir de la cabine. Voix du photomaton: "Tenez-vous bien droit, de manière à ce que votre visage rentre dans le cercle au centre de l'écran." Boulet (sérieux): "Bon." Photomaton: "Retirez tout ce qui est chapeaux, lunettes, écharpes, veillez à ce que vos cheveux ne dissimulent pas votre visage." Boulet (se touchant le front dégarni): "Ha ! Mes cheveux ! Nan, ça devrait aller."

Photomaton: "Adoptez une expression neutre, les yeux bien ouverts, sans sourire. Je veux très exactement zéro pourcent de joie de vivre. Un rictus, et j'envoie un agent te péter ta petite gueule de bouffon." Boulet (tétanisé): "..." Photomaton: "Les deux seuls réglages acceptés pour les documents officiels sont "Criminel de guerre" ou "Prédateur sexuel danois". Boulet: "Je..." Photomaton: "On est prêt. 3... 2... 1..."

Le visage de Boulet est brièvement déformé par une explosion de lumière qui le fait rentrer sa tête dans son cou. Photomaton: "Est-ce que cette photo vous convient ?" Boulet (encore ébloui, découvrant une image de lui dure aux traits marqués): "Hmmm. Je... Peut-être en souriant juste du regard ? Réessayons."

17 minutes plus tard. Photomaton: "Choisissez votre photo préférée." On voit une succession de portraits tous plus horribles les uns que les autres. Ils portent des mentions comme: "vieux cadavre", "Pervers suant", "Alcoolique fumeur", "Alain Juppé avec une moumoutte." et "scrotum humanoïde" Boulet (en larmes suite à de trop nombreux flashs et à de trop nombreuses humiliations visuelles): "OK TU AS GAGNÉ ! VA POUR VIEUX CADAVRE !" Boulet marche dans la rue, il a le visage usé et marqué de sa photo d'identité, il est soudain tout court sur pattes avec le ventre qui dépasse de sa chemise trop courte. Il tire derrière lui son égo dégonflé qui pleure "à quoi bon quoi que ce soit ?" et regarde en larmes sa photo d'identité: "Allons, c'est pas grave. Une carte d'identité c'est juste pour dix ans." Texte off: "Le meilleur remède contre les poussées d'égo ? Le Photomaton."
