More about my Southern Gothic horror novel, IβLL MAKE A SPECTACLE OF YOU:
Zora Robinson is an ambitious grad student in her dream program, Appalachian Studies, at Bricksbury University.
Against a backdrop that is a faded lesbian flag, "Debut horror novel. I'll Make a Spectacle of You. An ode to Black Appalachia, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), and Hoodoo. Written by Beatrice Winifred Iker. Beatrice's Instragram handle is @beatricewinifrediker.
My novel is also a work of religious horror.
The characters are Black and queer, with complex (oftentimes horrifying) relationships to the Black church, biblical doctrine, and God Himself.

Iβm very proud of this essay. Hoodoo is a large part of my personal life and my professional writing (my debut novel has a Hoodoo magic system and the main character is a powerful practitioner).
