There was a game company that made weird ttrpgs and such, with a lot of physical doodads. Cards, coins, cloth maps. Trying so hard right now to remember the name.

The hardest thing about analyzing well-established ttrpgs is divorcing play patterns that come from the actual mechanics and ones that come from the play culture. Mostly because the latter produce the 85% percent of the fun of the game

I've genuinely started to think that Temtem is the best creature batttler game.
I really enjoy how physically easy it is to make a team and swap various options.
It scratches the same itch as deckbuilding

4 fantasy bowmen. Their clothes are mostly green and black, and some of them have dark silvery metal bits.

4 archers done! Good going, me! I'm really taking it easy on these ones. Base layer plus washes is all their getting. The fact that I have actually good brush control and can be neat does a lot to make them look good.

Yeah, Saga is a pretty small game. I'm pretty sure this would be around 1/3 of a whfb 4e empire army. That being said, unit painting tends to morph my spoons into forks. We'll see what I can do to avoid that this time around

I am really proud of my mortar tho. It started out as a joke, putting the smallest siege weapon possible on a 100mm base, but I put so much stuff around it that it now looks like a serious model (while still being a little bit silly)

I've put together an 8 point army for Saga Age of Magic and dear lord, this is so much. I used as many of my already painted models but that leaves me with like 26 models that need paint on them. It's so intimidating. Thankfully most of them are Vae Victis models so the painting itself will be easy.

I have fallen in love with Saga; Age of Magic.
It's so goooooood, I love the battle boards, I love the factions, I can put together a couple warbands right now from my half-finished Warhammer bands, the rules are clean but have some nice crunch, it's literally perfect for me
