I like the idea of them having opposite "robot/living" part. surge being a machine hidden in skin while starline is a walking corpse held together by a thin sheet of metal and a pacemaker

like you got the main race and the phantom rider "subplot", wich alone would be fine.
but then you have surge and kit's thing wich could work as a thrid plot if given the time even if it starting to be a bit bloated
but then you add the Duo "lie and reveal" wich could have been saved for after

yea it really fells like a third of three diferent story were matched together into one.
